So, I took a trip to Dundrum Town Centre to purchase my Mac Lipliner in Stone that I have missed for aaages only to find that BT2 were all out! Not one to be put out over such devastation, I pottered into Boots to see what would cheer me up!
I have started to keep my “Dundrum List” on my notes on my phone which makes it great when I’m out and about. Each time I think of something I need or see something I want, I mark it down straight away! Handy or wha?
My haul was slightly Maybelline heavy, purely because it was a 3 for 2 day (high five!) and this is what I got:-
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eye-liner (€11.99) – First time purchase
This is a great alternative to the Mac Black Track and lasts just as long. This comes with a eye-liner brush which is a little too thick for me, and it also has a smudgy smudger at the other end – handy. I do prefer to use it with the Mac 266 brush – much more precision!
Maybelline Ancill Express Kajal Eye-liner Pencil, black and white (€4.79) Repurchase
These are so handy and so cheap. The pay off is great for both. I don’t often use the white, but I do find it good for when I’m having my “I want bigger eyes” day. I place it lightly on the lower waterline and slightly on the inside corner. I never ever use a pencil above the top lashes as I find this slightly “nails down a blackboard” weird trying to put it on, but I do place the black inside the top waterline. Makes the lashes look fuller
Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish in Winter Baby (€4.49) – First time purchase
Ok, I actually don’t rate this polish much. In order to get a good pay off, you need to layer and layer and layer, which to me, just looks awful. Also, it drys sooo quick so too many times I have gone over a semi-dry layer which I just painted and totally ruined it. Now, Im no nail technician but this to me ain’t that great! Unless it was the colour that made [my mistakes] so noticeable?! For the price, I may get another colour and judge the product again.
Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer (€11.99) - First time purchase
I get very dry under eyes, despite using an eye cream, so concealer for me is hit and miss. This concealer is pretty close to perfect, in my book. It’s really creamy and does not gather or crease at all. I know some people add more concealer over this one but unless your under-eyes are super dark, I don’t find a need too. I sometimes use it down the bridge of my nose, top of my cupids bow, centre of my chin and above my jaw bone…to give a little shape to my face. It comes in two colours – Nude and Light. Nude is a little pink for me. This, my friends, is a staple!
Maybelline “The Falsies” Black Drama Mascara (€11.99) Repurchase
This is the only mascara I keep buying again and again. It’s perfect for the price. It’s not clumpy and makes my lashes look nice and full. There is no fall down or smudging and lasts all day!
Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm 50ml (€7.00) - First time purchase
I read great reviews about this product, and lets face it, who doesn’t need a bit of radiance in their lives? This cream is supposed to be a dupe for the Mac Strobe Cream and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. Whilst I haven’t used the Strobe Cream, I have used the Skin Perfector and I have to say its a great dupe! You can use it all over the face, under your foundation, (which I do) or just on highlighted areas on the face and it gives off a fab but subtle sheen. It’s not so “in your face” shiny but it makes your skin look so healthy and glowy. It will definitely be a “repurchase” for me
Separately, these all should have cost a total of €53.24 – but with the 3 for 2 offer on Maybelline, it only came to €41.55. I could get a whole lot of double dips for with that extra cash!
Love, P x
